This podcast is a showcase for political, economic, and social leaders, who are neighbors but strangers, to envision equitable, sustainable, and resilient possibilities for seemingly intractable urban problems.
Possibility Hours are experiences to help collaborators more easily see possible alternatives.
The forces shaping our future are diverse and intimidating. They operate at a pace and scale that is difficult to perceive. We need to cultivate the capabilities to respond to these shifting demands of the future.
We have a basic hurdle to overcome first. Our social fitness.
While we may be more connected than ever, much of what connects us today is also what is driving a wedge between us.
If we can’t talk with each other, how are we going to work together?
This podcast is a place to come together and start having great conversations again! It’s been so much fun.
I say ‘seemingly intractable’ because many of the problems we face are not new nor static - “the only constant is change”. Therefore, taking an optimistic view, there is always some possible alternative.
Episodes
Dot Lung
In this episode, we talk about learning to be comfortable with discomfort and how it is a choice to be social and say hello to everyone. But to have an actual conversation or to build a relationship requires you to be authentic, curious, and find common ground. After all, we are all human. We all have emotions. We are all in the same boat. Once we recognize this it is the first step of departing our echo chambers and working towards something together.
Nicole Travis
We talk about showing up, over and over again. How expectations and the basic social dynamics change when you show up just as a person versus when you’re invited because of your professional role. It's only when you keep showing up that you begin to get to the root of the problem.
